2013 CosCard Plans

2012 is about to come to an end.

So fast, yeah?

Earlier this year I made a new cosplay photography card design for conventions and trading. Now, I've made new designs for 2013!

(That is if the world doesn't by December 21, 2012...)

Check them out!

3 Minutes of Fame (and awkwardness)

My last blog post was about Hero TV's interview of me and my friend, Zhel, while they filmed their "Man on the Spot" segment in Davao!

I showed you photos of the video shoot and my photos of Ces and Danix during the interview.

If you haven't read it yet, click THIS.

Now, I present to you my cut of the "Man on the Spot" segment on Hero TV!
(Do not mind my awkwardness. They honestly did not tell me what to do. They wanted it to be natural. Natural, for me, is being awkward. *sigh*)

I had to gather some courage to blog this because I SERIOUSLY was so awkward in the video. I then thought that, hey, this might be my one and only time to be shown on TV!

What the heck. Let the world see my awkwardness!!!

Side Note: Kakki, the host, said I recently won 2nd place in a national photography contest. Actually, I won third place in the recent one. I won second place on the 2010 one. So... error there. .___. Gomen ne. They didn't let me go through the script because they wanted it to be... natural. .___.

Thank you to the Hero TV team for the opportunity!!! Will be forever remembered! :D

Side side note: Seriously, my eyes could be bigger. TAT

Mindanao Cosplay Summit: Blast from the Past

It's that time of the year again. It's that event once again.
Now made bigger, better and with more cosplayers than ever before!

It's time for the Mindanao Cosplay Summit once again!

This time, the event will be graced by none other than Miss Alodia Gosiengfiao!

But, first, for those who don't know what MCS is...

The Aruki and Ikumi Tag Team

Aruki and Ikumi

The combination of their names have a ring to it, doesn't it?

These two are cosplayers from Manila and Davao, respectfully. Aruki visited Davao with a few friends a few months back and she and Ces (what we usually call Ikumi) did a tag-team pair cosplay of Gumi and Luka, from the vocaloid series!

This is waaaaaaay over-due but this inspiration hit me to edit this set just now... and the proper inspiration gets the photos looking perfect.

I hope you like them!

Tournament of Champions, 3rd Impact

I got the opportunity to take photos and videos of the skits of the champions on CosMania Day 2, during the TORCH competition. Sadly, I only got photos and videos of 4 groups... and totally missed the others.

.__.

Oh, well. No point crying over what I cannot change. How about I show you the photos instead?

Yes? Okay!

This is the official poster containing all the teams!

First, photo of the Davao Representatives! I couldn't take a photo of their perf because I was at the side, taking a video. .__. Tsk.

Then we have Team Potato!

Their skit was action packed so I couldn't take too many good photos.

Next, we have Team Banana Yogurt!
(Hungry from these team names yet?)

I have to say, this team had a LOT of drama so I had the chance to take so many photos. Plus, their poses and actions were really good... Perfect for a photographer. XD

Right?

Anyways, last but definitely not the least... I took photos of Team March Harue, the 1st Runner Up for the TORCH 3rd Impact!

This is Yuu. She is my friend and half of the team of Team March Harue. I am very proud of her. It's too bad I didn't get to take proper photos of her.

I have videos of the performances and these videos I will be uploading in a separate blog post. Please wait for them!

Thank you!

2012 Cosplay Mania, Day 1

As this is mainly a photo galore post, I'll keep the words minimal.

To start off, I'd just like to tell everyone what CosMania is.

CosMania, short form of Cosplay Mania, is the biggest cosplay event in the Philippines held once a year and it has been running for five years now. Every cosplayer, cosplay photographer and otaku who can travel to SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia Complex attends this prestigious event for two days of cosplay, bonding, photo shoots, stalking, photo bombing, etc.

So, basically it's one HUGE event with a LOT of people in costumes.

What's more awesome than that?

So, as I said... less words, more photos. Each photo will have a caption, so it's not TOO boring.
And, remember, you can click on the photos to view them in SLIDESHOW mode. Of course, you'll be missing all my cool captions that I put so much effort in. LOL.

So, are you ready? Check out my "proper" photos of some of CosMania Day 1's cosplayers.

CosMania 2012 Poster, showcasing the sponsors and Special Guest Cosplayers Kaname and Reika

Awesome cosplayers from Cebu. The name of the anime escapes me. Do you guys know? Comment below!

It's THE Maki! Cebu cosplayer extraordinaire! She is one of the two members of Team Madao who was one of the pairs competing for the championship title of TORCH 3rd Impact!

My very, very beautiful friends Kat Carpio (Left) and Mommy Sese (Right). They be AWESOME cosplayers.

I also have very handsome friends, namely Marko Villaluz (Left) and Quakey (Right).
Be sure to congratulate Marko and his partner, Dom, for winning the TORCH 3rd Impact! They will be competing in Singapore, representing Philippines! Wo0t!

Awesome cosplayers I had the privilege of shooting during the first day of CosMania. I only managed to take a few because I spent most of the day being a concierge... .__.

Anyways, if you know any of/or are the cosplayer above... THANK YOU for letting me take your photo!

Here are some landscape format photos.

I hope you like them, guys!

On the later part of CosMania Day 1, I did a photo shoot with two of my companions from Davao.

First is Kevin as Raiden from Metal Gear Solid: Rising Revengeance. Awesome cosplay is awesome. He made the whole thing by himself! *jawdrop*

Second is Maxene, cosplaying as Stocking from Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. I made it look like she's taking a vacation at different places. LOL.

On to the last pair of photos... the cherry on top of CosMania Day 1 for me... was the chance to shoot Reika, one of the international guest cosplayers.

It was very short and very impromptu. I was given access to her Meet and Greet and I took photos by the end of the session. They're okay... I could not ask for more. :)

Yes, she's a girl. She can be whatever she wants, I don't care. Ugh. Such perfectness.

She is japanese and when she talks, she is very energetic and lively. I could just stand there and listen to her speak for hours on end. I only did it for, like, 10 minutes.

Anyways, that's it for my Day 1 photos! Outtakes and event photos of Day 1 can be found at my facebook fanpage:

Look for the CosMania Day 3 Event Photos album, if you're interested.

Please wait for Day 2 photos! There will be more photos on there, I think. I haven't really put them into the laptop yet.

Been busy.

'Til next time!

Tokyo Otaku Mode Feature

Before I forget about this achievement, I'd like to put it in writing.

Tokyo Otaku Mode is a website that is all about sharing Japanese Otaku Culture to the world.
They report on everything 'otaku' including figures, nendoroids, manga, anime, cosplay and otaku conventions all over the world.

As of now, they are running on their Alpha Version. So if you visit their site, you'll most probably be asked to sign up or something and wait for a few days to be confirmed.

I, on the other hand, am very lucky to have been discovered, contacted and asked to be a special member of the website. I agreed immediately.

Ever since I got in, I started posting my works on cosplay photography and recently, T.O.M.'s facebook page featured "8 Great Cosplays" from the cosplay submissions in their website.

One of the photos is mine.

I am very proud to say that Ikumi Ces' cosplay of Gumi Matryoshka Version was included in the album. This goes to show how awesome her cosplay is!

To close this, I'd like to thank T.O.M. for this feature and to Ces for working with me on this photo.

Here are links you guys should visit!

Sheetstorm Studios Interview

It's been years since this interview at Sheetstorm Studios' studio at Cagayan de Oro City was done!

Time flies.
Watching this video has made me realize how far I've come as a cosplay photographer.

Would like to do a shoutout to Sheetstorm Studios and thank you once again for conducting this interview and for always supporting Zhel's and my endeavors!

Davao Cosplayers Showcase

Shutterpuppy Photography -  Davao Cosplayers

Cosplayer: Zhel Guiral  Location: SM City, Davao
HQ Version Link:

Thanks to Miss Alodia Gosiengfiao and Myrtle Gail Sarrosa, the term cosplay is known to almost everyone in the Philippines. But cosplay is more than Alodia or Myrtle, it's more than posing for photographers, more than the fame you get if you cosplay, more than the money you win from contests.

Cosplay is an art.

Having been in the Davao cosplay scene ever since it started in the city, I've met all kinds of cosplayers. There are those who are passionate about it, there are those who are in it for the fame, there are those who are in it to be someone else for a day or two, and others just want to be taken photos of.
No matter the reason for cosplay, there are more and more people who are into it now.

This isn't just a Japan thing. Not just a Philippines thing. It's world-wide. But let me focus on the cosplayers of Davao for this first ever post.

Davao cosplayers are awesome. There is just so much talent here. And with my photography I hope to showcase just how good Davao cosplayers are.

So here are a few photos of Davao Cosplayers I've had the privilege to take photos of.

Cosplayers: Zhel Guiral as Sheryl Nome (left) and Emi Amane as Ranka Lee (Right)  Location: People's Park

[LEFT] Cosplayer: Mitch Medina as Dream of Doll  Location: Ateneo De Davao High School  [RIGHT] Cosplayer: Gabby Nisperos as Zafina  Location: G-Mall, The Peak
[LEFT] Cosplayer: Kira Crimson as Leo  Location: G-Mall, The Peak  [RIGHT] Cosplayer: Emi Amane as Amulet  Location: Davao Old Airport Runway

Cosplayer: Shinji Ryuu as Clare Awakened Being  Location: I forgot the name (-__-'')

Cosplayer: Ikumi Ces as Gumi, Matryoshka  Location: Beside Banana Berry

See how awesome our cosplayers are? These are only some of the awesome cosplayers here in Davao. I'll be uploading and featuring more in the future.

If you guys get the chance to join a cosplay event, don't pass it up! You'll see more of the awesomeness (above) and more!

Also, if you see me... Don't hesitate to say "Hi!" or "Yo!" or "Wassaaaaaaap?", whichever floats your boat. I might give you a cos-card if I have any on my person when you do greet me.

See you guys around!

*Note: All photos taken by me. Please do not take them and use them on any other sites. If you want to feature them, please contact me first. E-Mail is to your left. Thank you.*
