2012 CosMania, Day 2

This is it. The second day of CosMania 2012. This was a shoot filled day since my friends from Davao and Manila came together to do mini shoots.

Excited yet?

I won't keep you guys for long. Let the photo posting begin!

First of all, I want you guys to meet Abu nii-chan~ He couldn't cosplay on the second day because he got tired or something.. But I think his Finn cosplay is a-okay~ You guys think so, too, right? XD

Second of all, I want to introduce you guys to half of the champions from Davao. Angeli! It's a good thing she was in costume back in the hotel because otherwise I would not have any chance to take photos of her at all. Louie, her partner, wasn't in costume since his costume was a full on armor costume. Too bulky to be wearing around the hotel. XD

They may not have won but I am very proud of them to have come this far! I hope to see you guys do even better in the next year!! Ganbatte!! :D

And then there was Duane, cosplaying as Barnaby Brooks.

In the second photo, he wanted it to look like he was being shot by paparazzi while shopping. LOL.
I like the third photo a lot. XD With special guest, my BAG!

Lunaru, oh, Lunaru~ Why so purrty? This is her first ever armor cosplay! So proud of her for pulling it off and for enduring the pain that comes with wearing armor! She couldn't sit down for such a long time!

It is an honor to have taken photos of you, Lunaru!! :D This is her cosplaying Lightning from the Final Fantasy Series. Her costume isn't complete but I still think she looks kick-ass!

Sese, the ever-so-versatile cosplayer. She has cosplayed a lot of characters and she pulls each and every single one of them off so perfectly.

This is her cosplaying Blue Rose from Tiger & Bunny.

Sorry most of them are portrait shots, but shooting with her reminded me of when I shoot my creative/concept portraits.

Then we have the life-size cosplay of Onion Knight. I mean that as a compliment.
Trixi, from Davao, has the perfect body size and figure for this character!

Others refer to her as Boy Bawang.

Chibi shoooooot.

Up next are two cosplayers who I met during the mini-shoot. I can tell they're really good by their costumes and facial expressions alone but the chemistry these two have... amazing.

Meet Loon and Luna.

The nose-bleed inducing pair. No, seriously. I was editing their photos and my nose bled. Or maybe it's because I have the sniffles and I kept blowing my nose. Who knows?

Last but not the least, cosplay photographer / cosplayer, Lanz E. from Cagayan de Oro!
He be cosplaying Gilgamesh.

Like a baws.

And, oh, here's a little fight scene shot between Onion Knight and Lightning!~ XD

So, that's it for my "official" photos of CosMania Day 2. I will be making a separate blog post for photos and videos I took of the TORCH competition!

So, please wait for that.

Here are links to my other blog posts related to CosMania:

Please wait for the next batch!! :D

Tokyo Otaku Mode Feature

Before I forget about this achievement, I'd like to put it in writing.

Tokyo Otaku Mode is a website that is all about sharing Japanese Otaku Culture to the world.
They report on everything 'otaku' including figures, nendoroids, manga, anime, cosplay and otaku conventions all over the world.

As of now, they are running on their Alpha Version. So if you visit their site, you'll most probably be asked to sign up or something and wait for a few days to be confirmed.

I, on the other hand, am very lucky to have been discovered, contacted and asked to be a special member of the website. I agreed immediately.

Ever since I got in, I started posting my works on cosplay photography and recently, T.O.M.'s facebook page featured "8 Great Cosplays" from the cosplay submissions in their website.

One of the photos is mine.

I am very proud to say that Ikumi Ces' cosplay of Gumi Matryoshka Version was included in the album. This goes to show how awesome her cosplay is!

To close this, I'd like to thank T.O.M. for this feature and to Ces for working with me on this photo.

Here are links you guys should visit!

Davao Cosplayers Showcase

Shutterpuppy Photography -  Davao Cosplayers

Cosplayer: Zhel Guiral  Location: SM City, Davao
HQ Version Link:

Thanks to Miss Alodia Gosiengfiao and Myrtle Gail Sarrosa, the term cosplay is known to almost everyone in the Philippines. But cosplay is more than Alodia or Myrtle, it's more than posing for photographers, more than the fame you get if you cosplay, more than the money you win from contests.

Cosplay is an art.

Having been in the Davao cosplay scene ever since it started in the city, I've met all kinds of cosplayers. There are those who are passionate about it, there are those who are in it for the fame, there are those who are in it to be someone else for a day or two, and others just want to be taken photos of.
No matter the reason for cosplay, there are more and more people who are into it now.

This isn't just a Japan thing. Not just a Philippines thing. It's world-wide. But let me focus on the cosplayers of Davao for this first ever post.

Davao cosplayers are awesome. There is just so much talent here. And with my photography I hope to showcase just how good Davao cosplayers are.

So here are a few photos of Davao Cosplayers I've had the privilege to take photos of.

Cosplayers: Zhel Guiral as Sheryl Nome (left) and Emi Amane as Ranka Lee (Right)  Location: People's Park

[LEFT] Cosplayer: Mitch Medina as Dream of Doll  Location: Ateneo De Davao High School  [RIGHT] Cosplayer: Gabby Nisperos as Zafina  Location: G-Mall, The Peak
[LEFT] Cosplayer: Kira Crimson as Leo  Location: G-Mall, The Peak  [RIGHT] Cosplayer: Emi Amane as Amulet  Location: Davao Old Airport Runway

Cosplayer: Shinji Ryuu as Clare Awakened Being  Location: I forgot the name (-__-'')

Cosplayer: Ikumi Ces as Gumi, Matryoshka  Location: Beside Banana Berry

See how awesome our cosplayers are? These are only some of the awesome cosplayers here in Davao. I'll be uploading and featuring more in the future.

If you guys get the chance to join a cosplay event, don't pass it up! You'll see more of the awesomeness (above) and more!

Also, if you see me... Don't hesitate to say "Hi!" or "Yo!" or "Wassaaaaaaap?", whichever floats your boat. I might give you a cos-card if I have any on my person when you do greet me.

See you guys around!

*Note: All photos taken by me. Please do not take them and use them on any other sites. If you want to feature them, please contact me first. E-Mail is to your left. Thank you.*
